Last weekend we spent a long weekend in Mobile with Aunt Lani, Uncle Brian, Mako & Mali(their dogs) and Cheri! It was a fun getaway and we took lots of new toys to keep us occupied! We had bubble guns, sidewalk chalk, a beach ball sprinkler and the most fun of all some stamps and "washable ink!"Sara Beth had more fun stamping herself and Mahlon than the sheets of paper we laid out for her. She had the best time! They were so dirty I didn't dare put them in the bathtub...they got to get hosed down in the driveway!!
Just because it says "washable" doesn't mean it really is...it sort of stained their skin till a bath or two later!!
Saturday afternoon Uncle Brian took them for a ride on his "tractor." I think Mahlon thought he was really driving!
Sara Beth had more fun watching Uncle Brian go back and forth...she grinned from ear to ear each time he passed by.
This is one of my favorite pictures I have taken of Mahlon...such a sweet face!!
Sunday morning we had little more fun outside before heading back. I was trying to get some cute pictures for their birthday invitations...I think it was a success!

Weekend in Mobile

More early birthday surprises! Last week we got to open gifts from "aunt" Shay...my best friend. The twins are at the most fun age with gift opening...Mahlon couldn't figure out how to get his open and he just stood there saying "open!, open!" Sara Beth got the sassiest Tutu and had to put it on instantly! Mahlon got golf clubs...since neither one of us play golf he wasn't quite sure what they were, but anything that has a ball is fun! After a few minutes they both got the hang of it and Sara Beth would run around dropping the ball violently swing the club and yell "I pah-way golf!" and since he does whatever she does there was lots of throwing and even more swinging! Luckily they haven't beaten each other yet!!

Playdate
Something that has been helping pass the time while daddy is away is lots of playdates! Last week we had Kade and his mom Jenny and Ollie and baby Danni and their mom Jennifer over for a splish splash backyard playdate. They played in the sprinklers, rode around in the jeep, played on the slide and swings and ate lots of goldfish and cookies! I know Mahlon and Sara Beth had a good time because they slept most of the afternoon away!!

Thompson Family Reuion
The 2nd Sunday in July is always the Thompson family reunion(Wesley's mom's family) in Fayette, Alabama...unfortunately we've missed the past 2 years due to me being about to pop(2 years ago) and last year Wesley was working out of town for the month. So not many Thompson cousins have even met the "double days" so this year was the year. Again Wesley just happened to be out of town for the month, but he flew home and we loaded up for a whirlwind trip...we were in Fayette less than 24 hours! And on top of that Sara Beth was one sick little girl...you'll notice she is not smiling in a single picture! She had Roseolla(a high fever for 4 or 5 days followed by a rash covering most of her body), needless to say she was not very much fun and she didn't want to be touched or held by anyone other than mommy or daddy...not a very good first impression!! Having fun with daddy on the swings!
This is the most we got out of S.B. on Saturday night a half smile eating one of her daddy's cheetos!
Swinging with Aunt Maggie and cousin Brenda!
I love this face! He was a little uneasy about going down the slide...it is a lot taller then ours at home, but after a little help from Aunt Maggie he kept going and going! I'm not sure who was more tired!
Anyway on Friday night we had a cookout at Lee and Carson's cabin and Mahlon had a blast playing on the swing and slide. Sara Beth was a little more clingy, but after a while she played on the swing and slide too.
Saturday the babies started their morning with a few early birthday presents from Aunt Maggie (Mag-Mag) and Gran before we headed to the lunch/reunion with all of the cousins from the night before and more! We had a quick lunch and visited with family before driving home to get daddy right back on the plane to Colorado!

Having boy/girl twins is sometimes a challenge, especially when little boys want to do just what their sisters do!!Sara Beth had tig-tails (pig-tails) the other day and Mahlon kept begging for tig-tails too, so I gave in! Wouldn't he make the prettiest girl?! He was so proud!!

Swim Lessons!
This summer we started swim lessons! Mahlon is our little fish! He loves the water and has NO FEAR! He may end up drinking half of the pool, but thinks it is hilarious! Sara Beth likes to sit on the steps or play in the kiddie pool...maybe next year she'll change her mind! They are so big...they can hold their breath under water, pull up and climb out of the pool (with a little help) and they are great kickers! This summer we just wanted them to get the feel of the water and learn some basics...maybe by next year we'll be swimming! Thanks Miss Tracie!!

Terrific Tuesday!
All summer Madison Heights (our church) has been having "play dates" every Tuesday. Each week is somewhere different and a few weeks ago (June 15th) we went to the Natural Science Museum. The babies had the best time. They could care less about the dinosaur and shark exhibits...but the fish, snakes and turtles they LOVED!! They didn't want to leave the tanks...the best part was air conditioning! Great place to go on a hot summer day! They talked and talked to the fish and turtles...most of it only the fish could understand!
Oh and the play room was lots of fun too!

Last Day in San Antonio
We had a few hours before we needed to head to the airport so we made the most of it! We toured the Alamo...extremely hot and very crowded, but since we both love history it was worth it.Love this picture of Mahlon and his daddy!!
Cheri and Sara Beth sitting in the shade...red cheeks and all!
Then we headed down to the river for lunch and a river boat tour! Mahlon and Sara Beth loved the boat for about the first 15 minutes and then they wanted to go back and feed tortilla chips to the ducks!
We went back to the hotel for a quick nap and then headed out on the airplane home. Telling daddy bye was very hard, but we had a fun time with him while we were there!
The plane ride home was a bit easier with a dvd in the lap top!
