Our Busy week!

We had a busy week last week. Roberta (Wesley's cousin) came to visit. She hasn't seen the babies since they were in the NICU. She couldn't believe how big the babies were!

We love Blueberries! OK not really, but if you mix them with pears we'll attempt to enjoy them!

Just a few more pictures of us holding our own bottles!

Cheri came last week to help me with the babies while Wesley was traveling. We added more plants and flowers to the new flower bed, and of course shopped! Thanks for all of your help Cheri!

Friday night we went to the MAPL Crawfish Boil. I didn't take any pictures while we were there...oops! Anyway this picture is from when we got home and we were getting ready for our bath. Sara Beth was soooo tired and all she wanted was a paci. She decided Mahlon's would work just fine!

Another cute picture of Sara Beth. She was pooped after going to the nursery on Sunday. She didn't care how she fell asleep!

Untitled from rebecca on Vimeo.

The babies have started talking over the past few weeks. Sara Beth says "Hi" and "dadadada" and Mahlon just started saying "labalabala" (I think he is saying Lani and Brian) This week Mahlon has started to ramble "dadadada" and Sara Beth is saying "mmmmmm". I am hoping MAMA is coming soon!

Again the sound is a little off. But it is Sara Beth saying HI at the end!

Big Boy and Girl

This video is from a few weeks ago. I decided it was time to learn to hold a bottle and they just did it! They have been so spoiled. I still do love to cuddle with them and give them a bottle before bed. I know I don't have much baby time left. Before we know it they'll be bottle free and mobile and won't want to cuddle! How sad!

The sound is a little off of the video...sorry!

Today we had our Spring Festival at church. We had such a fun time. Mahlon and Sara Beth had all kinds of firsts. First bouncy slide, first petting zoo, first pony ride, first picnic...you get the idea. Enjoy the cute pics!

Interesting Week!

We had another busy week at the Day house! We have tried several new foods over the past few weeks, I just haven't had time to post or I didn't get a picture of it. Lets see...Broccoli, Yellow Squash, Blueberries, Green Peas, and latest Spaghetti noodles! They weren't quite sure what to do with them (we had extra after making our dinner so we thought we would give it a try!)

Also this week we have been "sleep training" or whatever you want to call it. The babies started sleeping through the night at 4 months or so but once we started teething that went right out the window...at least for Sara Beth. Mahlon is our sleeper. He can sleep 9-11 hours at night and take 2 2hour naps during the day. Sara Beth on the other hand HATES nap time, goes down easily at night, but only sleeps for 6-7 hours (this puts her waking up at 3 or 4 am!!) We always rushed in when she started crying to keep her from waking Mahlon up. It is much easier to get one crabby baby back to sleep at 3 am than 2 crabby babies! So we spoiled her and she got used to us running in to shove a paci in her mouth. (or as Wesley calls it a "plug"!)
Anyway after several nights in a row of getting up multiple times a night we decided to let her "cry it out." Now let me explain myself...I have heard of doing this, but had done zero research on the protocol. Apparently you are supposed to let them cry for a few minutes, go check on them, tell them you love them...etc...but don't pick them up. Then wait 5-10 minutes more and repeat and eventually they fall asleep. Then the next night you wait 10-15 minutes and so on and by the 3rd or 4th night they are sleeping all night. Well that is for the birds!!! Who wants to get up that many times in the middle of the night. OK so most parents might, we like to sleep way too much.
Poor Sara Beth had to learn the hard and of course so did we. We let that sweet baby girl cry for 1 solid hour!!! I know we are mean and it was horrible to listen to. At one point (4:15 am) Wesley turned on the TV because there was no way we were going to sleep through that. She cried and said dadadada. I told her the next morning that maybe if she had said mamamama I would have come in there!!
Anyway to make a long story a little shorter Sara Beth has slept the past 2 nights for 10 hours straight!!! Amazing! I should write a book on my sleep method...no need to go 3 or 4 nights without sleep. You just need one really bad night. We did feel awful once I did a little research on the Ferber Sleep Method and realized what we "should have done" and we were fully prepared to try that on the next night, but like I said she learned her lesson the hard way! (Just like her mommy and daddy always do!)

Another thing we did this week was add a nice big flower bed to our back yard. We are so proud of it. It is not quite finished yet, but I thought I would post a picture of it anyway. Doc came up on Tuesday with his tiller and he and Wesley dug it up. Then on Wednesday Cheri helped us pick our plants and design the bed and Thursday and Friday we planted and added the stone border. We still have a few things to add that Doc and Cheri are going to transplant from their yard (Iris, Day Lillies, Crepe Myrtle...) So I'll have to post another picture once everything has been planted.
Working in a flower bed is my therapy and I have needed some major therapy after our sleepless nights!!HA!

Now that we are sleeping in our house we have MUCH happier babies!!
These are a few pictures in our Sunday best and yes that is the "new" flower bed in the background.

Happy Easter!

The Easter bunny came to visit us last night! And as you can see we are still teething...everything goes directly to the mouth. That is why Mahlon has a box of teething biscuits! We made it to church on time all dressed up and left bare foot with no bow! HA! I did manage to get a few pictures outside before the rain came. Not many smiles though, oh well!

Hope you had a wonderful Easter celebration!

Today we helped Meri Margaret celebrate her 1st birthday! We didn't get a picture of all the babies before we left...it was our nap time so we didn't get to stay for the whole party. I did get a few pics of some cute party hats though!

These are just a few pictures we took outside at Doc and Cheri's. Aren't they sweet babies!

Today was Mahlon and Sara Beth's first tractor ride with DOC! Oh what fun!

You can see how big the tractor is when it makes Wesley look small.

Mahlon and Sara Beth had their "farm clothes" on just for DOC. Their outfits have cows on them and Mahlon has a tractor on his booty!

Of course the little princess wants to drive it herself!

Aunt Diane came to visit this morning. She hasn't seen the babies since Christmas! She was amazed at how big they were and what little personalities they have developed!

Whew... we had another busy weekend! We went to Soso for a few days and kept quite a busy schedule. Doc and Cheri and Lani and Brian spoiled us big time with Easter presents. Thanks for all of our new learning toys and videos, teething biscuits and toys! We are going to have so much fun! And we love our cute Easter baskets!

In the 2 days that we were in Soso we managed to see the Easter Bunny, eat some of Doc's peas (not a big hit!) ride the John Deere, eat dinner at Cowboy Jim's (Doc's favorite place-it was yummmy)go to a birthday party and visit with family and friends. We are pooped, but we had a good time!

Hoppy Easter!

We visited the Easter bunny at Sawmill Square Mall in Laurel on Good Friday. The babies weren't quite sure what to think...no smiles (at least there weren't any tears!!) This is not the original picture so it is fuzzy, you get the idea though!

New foods!

So I haven't been very good at updating our new food of the week so let me catch you up. New things we have added in past few weeks...yellow squash (pictured above) Sara Beth is not a fan, green peas-they could give or take them, teething biscuits-love them, banana flavored puffs-not sure what they think of them, and today we tried baby yogurt (pictured below)-Sara Beth thought it was ok...Mahlon HATED it! Milk mustache anyone??? We are still trying to make most of our own food. If anyone has any suggestions for what to try next let me know! Their favorite foods are still fruits, go figure I have the biggest sweet tooth in the world! We'll have all kinds of fresh veggies once summer gets here thanks to Doc!

These pictures were taken among the flowers(a.k.a. weeds) but they are so cute! Thanks Sally and Charlotte for our precious sailboat outfits! I love it when the babies match!

These pictures are from Sunday morning before and after church. The babies got the "best babies in the nursery" award at Independent Presbyterian. The nursery workers said they have never gotten babies down for a nap that easily and wanted to know our secret! I told them I needed to know their secret!
