THANKSGIVING

The babies spent their first Thanksgiving in Memphis. We headed up there on Wednesday afternoon...the babies slept the whole 3 hour drive! That night we left the babies with Gran and Daddy Day and had an adult dinner with Margaret Ann. Thursday we got up and went to church, had our Thanksgiving lunch and Great Uncle Teet, Aunt Doris, Uncle Keith, Jordan and Erika came over for the traditional bocce ball tournament. Margaret Ann's friend Susie beat them all! I probably would have won if I had played! Just Kidding! These are some of the pictures I took on Thanksgiving after church.

Disco Diva

I took these pictures this week...Mahlon was napping so good. This is his favorite way to sleep(arms up legs sprawled out.)

Sara Beth is a disco diva in an outfit that her mommy wore almost 30 years ago! I just love the bare feet with her bell bottoms.

snug as a bug!

The other morning we put both babies in the vibrating seat. Sara Beth was so snug and comfy she fell asleep on her brother!

Longest Blog EVER

Mahlon was pooped after his first day of shopping!
Aunt Lani helped feed babies in the hotel...she changed a few poopy diapers too!

Cousin David was so good with squirmy Sara Beth.

Nana's first time to hold Mahlon.

Cousin Catherine and Great Aunt Daphne are talking to Sara Beth and Mahlon.

Sara Beth is talking Nana's ear off!
Aunt Daphne had fun watching Mahlon "hula dance"

We had such a busy weekend. We left Thursday afternoon heading to Birmingham for the annual girls Christmas shopping trip(with Wesley and the twins in tow!) We had a good dinner Thursday night Cocina Superior minus the freezing temps and Sara Beth wetting through her clothes!
Friday morning we woke up to no heat in our hotel room...go figure!! We had to switch rooms...this was a process, 2 pack-n-plays, all of the babies stuff and our stuff too! Wesley kept the babies in the hotel room Friday morning while we shopped in Homewood. Then we met for lunch...yes he got them both dressed and fed before we met! We went to Tazeki's ( I love that place) and Matthew met us there. After lunch Wesley and Matthew did the guy thing and we took the babies shopping at the Summitt. They are troopers! Aunt Lani just kept them moving in the stroller so they were as happy as they could be. We met my friend Katie for dinner that night...we were all pooped! It is a lot harder to shop with babies...the words power shopping are no longer in my vocabulary!
Saturday morning Wesley and I woke up and headed to Atlanta for a "Sip and See" with no Sip(that is what Nana called it!) The babies met their great-grandmother, great aunts and uncles and lots of cousins! We had such a big day. They were such good babies. We headed back to B'ham for dinner with Cheri and Lani at Ted's(one of Wesley's favorites). We fed the babies while we waited on our food...it was perfect! Wesley took the babies back to the hotel and we shopped for 45 minutes before the stores closed...not much luck though.
Sunday we loaded our car and ran to a few more stores before lunch and headed home. We had a little bit later start than we should have, and we paid for it! We had to pull over in Morton, MS and feed the babies at the "77" gas station! Every hunter in the state of MS stopped there for some fried chicken and corn dogs. Too funny...you live and you learn.
Things we learned on our trip...
-pack every bib in the house
-by 3 months babies MUST stick to their feeding schedule (7,10,2,6,9)
-when changing a diaper in the front seat...do it quickly or you end up with tee tee in your seat!
-washing bottles in a hotel is NOT fun!
-when traveling with twins you must have a suite with a refrigerator and microwave
-make sure that room is as close to the elevator as possible...we had a very long walk!!
-and last but not least...the corn dogs at the "77" were actually kind of good!(they don't compare to Corn Dog 7 in Laurel!!)

We had such a good weekend. We will be on the road again on Wednesday heading to Memphis. I'm sure I'll have more stories for you!

Mullet

Today I read an article about flat head syndrome so of course I immediately put the babies on their tummies...something I have not been doing enough of! At first they thought it was fun and then there was a little screaming involved. It wore both of them out and they took a nice 20 minute power nap before our stroll.
I took several pictures of Mahlon showing off how strong he is and I wanted you to see his mullet! Instead of business in the front--party in the back, he is almost bald in the front, bald circle in the back and mullet underneath...he also has Elvis sideburns! He is still the cutest baby! And Sara Beth can almost have a pony tail!
I forgot to fill you in on the weight update. We had our RSV vaccine last Thursday. Mahlon was 13lbs 12 oz and Sara Beth was 12lbs 15 oz. That was a week ago so I am sure they are 14 and 13 by now. And Mahlon is 24 inches long! He has grown 4 1/2 inches! Sweet Little Princess is as round as she is tall! But she is beautiful.
We are having fun. There little smiles and coos will melt your heart!

Tamale Chef

This weekend was our Tamale making weekend...Wesley loves making tamales, but needs a little assistance. We made 70 tamales!! Sara Beth decided she wanted to help too...so I strapped her on and she was as happy as she could be!

visitors

This picture is a little fuzzy because I was shooting through the window...We had a few visitors over the weekend. They played in our backyard and ate a few leaves from our new trees and moved on to the next house. I am not hunter and just don't see how you could shoot something so sweet. I do enjoy the deer meat from my brother-in-law!

Guess what we found!

This week Mahlon found his thumb all by himself! He has been trying for a while, but usually ends up with multiple fingers or a fist in his mouth. He is learning to self-soothe...Little Princess Sara Beth is a long way from that!

We made it to church on Sunday with Gran and Daddy Day. It was a little chilly outside so Mahlon got to wear his new sweater and they both had on their precious shoes from the Stones. We had a little photo shoot after lunch to show off clothes that finally fit. We are growing soooo quickly, does someone know if there is a pause button for babies??

Happy Belated Birthday Daddy Day!

Great-Great Uncle Teet, Gran and Daddy Day were all at our house for dinner Saturday. Wesley made a Mexican Fiesta for Daddy Day's belated birthday celebration. He has become quite the chef! I don't think I have cooked a meal since July thanks to all of our sweet friends, Cheri and Wesley! (yes Sara Beth is spitting up in the picture with her grandparents!)

Baby Shower

Today Jennifer had a baby shower...Ollie will be here in December! Doesn't Jennifer look too cute...you can barely tell she is pregnant! It was a lot of fun seeing so many friends from college and sharing babies stories...boy have we all grown up!

Look how big we are!

So we were curious to see how tall Mahlon was compared to Sara Beth...he is 2 inches taller! He is long and lean and bless her heart...Doc calls her Rolley Polley. Mahlon is 24 inches long and Sara Beth is 22 inches. We think they are around 13- 13 1/2 pounds. We have shots on Tuesday so we'll have a weight for sure then.

Aunt Lani was home (in Soso) for the Birthday party too! We put her to work feeding, burping, changing poopy diapers and bathing 2 babies!! She is now pooped too!! Maybe she'll get some rest this weekend.

Happy Birthday Doc!

Today Doc turned 61! Cheri cooked a wonderful birthday dinner and then we opened gifts...Mahlon and Sara Beth were pooped. They were already in PJ's by the time the party started. Doc opened his singing b'day card...we picked this especially for him. It sang Old MacDonald had a farm...except when we sing it to Mahlon and Sara Beth we sing Old Doc Jefcoat had a farm...this is one of their favorite songs! Cheri bought this singing bear for Sara Beth and Mahlon and they laugh and coo when it sings to them. Their little personalities are starting to come out. They are too sweet and growing up sooooo fast!

Our 3 month photos have been posted. You can view them at www.cbuckleyphoto.com/Day.

Busy Day in Laurel

Cheri and Mahlon

Little Mahlon wasn't quite sure what to think!

Our little hands...can't wait to see the finished product!
Sara Beth slept through most of the excitement.

We had such a busy day today. Cheri and I took the babies all over Laurel today. We started out visiting Sawmill Animal Hospital to see "DOC" on his birthday. Then we had lunch at Campanella's (new Italian Restaurant in Laurel.) After lunch we shopped a little and then headed to the church to visit with everyone there and feed the babies. And then we headed to DoodleBugz Pottery to make handprints on the cute platter Mrs. Sherry gave us. Of course while we were there we had to get a few other things made (this isn't the finished product). The babies slept most of the day and Sara Beth even slept through her first 2 handprints. Now that we are back in Soso Cheri and I are pooped, but the babies are wide awake! Tonight we have dinner with DOC for his birthday!

Fall Festival

We had a busy Sunday. Wesley went to church today for nursery duty but me and the babies stayed at home and got a little extra sleep. We went for a walk...the weather was beautiful, then Sally came over to see the babies. She helped me feed the babies and get them dressed while daddy got a nap. Then we loaded up and headed to the babies first church picnic/Fall Festival. We had wonderful food and fellowship and lots of help with the babies...thanks Claire and Susan! We had a great day!

Newest Little Bulldawgs!

After a five hour stretch of sleep on Friday night we decided to brave the crowd and head to Starkville Saturday morning. This was not a last minute decision...it took lots of planning and packing...double the bottles, diapers, wipes, burp cloths, bibs, extra clothes. It was a big effort, but we did it!

The babies slept the 2 hour drive there and we had to wake them up once we got to the tailgate to feed them. Jennifer and Brandi took over so Wesley and I had a little break and we got to munch on food and visit. So nice!

On our way to the game Mahlon and Sara Beth got to meet Sally, Owen, Maury and Carter.

One of our friends (Betsy) gave us her extra Club Level tickets so we were able to enjoy the game from the inside. So now I am spoiled...don't want to sit in the sun anymore! The babies were wide awake through the whole game...and cowbells and loud screams were entertaining to them I think. We gave them another bottle with help of Nancy's mom Mrs. Cheryl. She just loved on Sara Beth and took care of her the whole game. We stayed almost to the end (we didn't want to push our luck), loaded the babies up and headed home. The babies slept the whole ride home and we made it back just in time for the next feeding. We were so glad we made the trip. It was a lot of fun and we almost feel like things are somewhat normal again. (and then Daylight savings messed it all up!) Maybe in a day or 2 we'll get back on our schedule.
