I'm full!

We spent a few days in Shreveport with Wesley this week...it is tough traveling with 2 babies! They were perfect in the car! We didn't have to stop on the way there or the way back. The tough part was feeding them, we did figure out that feeding them in the stroller worked quite well! I thought this was too cute not to share!

Hurray Doc is finally home!!! Thank you for all of your prayers! Though he still has a very long way to go my dad is home. He has a pic line and has to be given IV meds every 8 and 12 hours at least for the next week. He is still quite weak, but again we are just so thankful he is home!

Sweet Sara Beth could tell he hasn't been feeling well all weekend...she wanted to stay right next to him and his chair. She held his hand, tickled his toes and bless her heart she just couldn't understand why her DOC wouldn't pick her up and love on her. Please continue to pray for his body to heal. He still has fluid in his right lung and an enlarged liver. He'll go back in on Monday for a check-up.

We're headed to see Wesley on Sunday!! Me and the babies are so excited!

What is going on in the Day household??!!

SO I have a lot to blog about, but I am tired and don't want to write all of the drama down. I thought this would be an easy way to share the kind of week I have had.
Here are the highs and lows of my week so far. I am going to start with the lows and end on a happy note...

Lows...
-My dad is still in the hospital. Going on 7 days! He is getting better but he has a long way to go!
-My husband is still working out of town!!
-Mahlon ate cat throw up for a snack on Sunday!!! OK he had it in his mouth for about 30 seconds...it looked just like a cheerio to him!! Luckily there have been no repercussions!
-Also on Sunday Mahlon got his leg stuck in the bed railing...I had to use crisco to grease his leg and rail to get it out!! This is way too much stress for me being home alone!
-In order to let out my frustrations from the previous lows I made a new flower bed. The ground was so hard I thought I was hitting concrete! My muscles were so sore the next day---and of course it is 100 degrees and everything is trying to die!

Highs...
-I took the babies to the grocery store on Monday all by myself...this has never happened. We strolled in in the "mondo stroller" and I hooked a hand basket on each handle...we were a sight to see! I think I may try Wal-mart tomorrow!
-Mahlon cut a third tooth finally!! Sara Beth is working on 4,5,6 & 7 all at one time!
-Sara Beth can balance for a few seconds all by herself before landing on her hiney!
-My dad finally has a Doctor that is communicating with us and has a plan!
-Mahlon and Sara Beth learned to MOOOOO like a cow for DOC when we see him this weekend!

I am sure there are more things I have forgotten, these are just a few highlights! The bad thing is it is only Wednesday night!! We have had a busy week already!!

Double Dad, Doc and Daddy Day

I am so thankful for the daddy's in my life!

Leaving the NICU, August 8, 2008...daddy was just a little scared!

After a few weeks he was a pro at double duty!

Celebrating his first Father's Day!

We are so excited Wesley got to come home for his first Father's Day! We spent the morning in Soso and then headed to Hattiesburg to visit Doc in the hospital and eat Wesley's favorite...Mexican for lunch! We went to lunch with Cheri, Lani and Brain. The babies kept everyone entertained by covering themselves in shredded cheese! Yummy! Then we headed back to Madison so Wesley could pack up again to head back to Louisiana. We missed him so much this week while he was away! Mahlon and Sara Beth have so many new tricks and they showed all of them to their daddy. Before he left today Sara Beth reached out for him and said "daddy"(she usually says dada) I think she melted his heart!

Just a few things about my husband that I am thankful for:
--He is a wonderful Christian father, husband, role model, friend...and the list goes on!
--He is a wonderful chef!! He took over the cooking once the babies were born and he works hard to find new recipes for us each week!
--He is a hard worker. He'll do whatever it takes to take care of us...obviously if he is in Louisiana right now!!
--He changes 1/2 of the poopy diapers, cleans the litter box, takes out the trash...
I could keep going, but I wouldn't want to brag!! HA!

I am so blessed to have him in my life !

Most of you know about Doc's famous vegetable gardens...maybe even some of you have enjoyed his fresh veggies or tomatoes. Well it is driving him crazy that he is stuck in bed with all that "needs" to be done to the garden, so I came home this afternoon and watered, picked and sevin dusted the garden for him. What a job it is! I now know why he gets in at 9pm in the summers. These are two of the zucchini I picked for Mahlon and Sara Beth. We won't eat these...we only eat the little ones. But I was proud of his ginormous produce!

Follow up on my Dad (Doc)

My dad is NEVER sick and he recently had a biopsy done of his prostate (on Tuesday) due to elevated PSA levels. Thankfully nothing was found, but Wednesday he spiked a fever of 101 and couldn't shake it. On Thursday afternoon after a little work, he came home and went to bed without eating lunch. He woke up still with fever and started having convulsions. He was taken by ambulance to Wesley Medical in Hattiesburg.
On Friday he was diagnosed with Gram-Negative E-coli and pneumonia in his left lung (due to the stress of the toxins in his body.) He has been very sick. Everything in is body has been affected from his heart to his liver. Mentally he is doing extremely well considering all of the meds he is on. He knows exactly what is going on and has been barking orders! HA! For example he insisted on getting a swab for the swine flu...thankfully it was negative, but that is what he wanted.
Today my dad is doing much better. They think there is a chance he will be in a regular room by Saturday or Sunday. His pain level is now a 4 out of 10...on Thursday it was an 8. His heart rate is more stable, but they are having a hard time keeping his blood pressure up(he has been on dopamine---they are slowly taking him off of that, but each time his BP drops) He can't get in a hospital room until he is off of the Dopamine. The Urologist that did the Prostate biopsy to begin with said in 22 years he has had 2 cases that resulted in the E coli and my dads was much worse than the other guy. He is still very sick, but we are seeing improvements hourly. He did eat all of his dinner, his first solid food since Wednesday. We are looking at 4 or 5 more days in the hospital once he is in a regular room, and a 5-6 week recovery/healing process. Thankfully they do expect a full recovery. Again thank you so so much for your prayers. Please continue to keep my dad (Doug Jefcoat) in your prayers. We are so blessed to have friends and family like you praying for us.

For those of you living in Laurel...the hardest thing for my mom is going to be keeping my dad away from the clinic once he gets home. She is going to need your help or a big straight jacket to keep him at home and off of a tractor!

Daddy We Miss You!

This is our new trick! The other day I was blowin' on her oatmeal and said "whew this is hot!" Well she learned to blow too!
Wesley is working out of town for 3 more weeks so I will be posting lots of pictures and videos to keep him up to date! Thanks to all of those helping me out with the babies! I love the company and the babies do too! Thanks Daddy for working so hard to take care of us!

Gonna getcha!

This is Mahlon and Wesley's new game! They have so much fun! Aren't they cute!!

Sorry it has been long since I posted anything. We have had a crazy June so far. These pictures sum up the past few weeks at our house.

Last weekend Wesley and I went New Orleans to celebrate our 5 year Anniversary! We dropped the babies off at Doc and Cheri's and headed south. This was Wesley's first trip since Katrina. I have been one other time...sad to it is just not the same. We had a wonderful time. We ate wonderful food at two of our favorites...Bacco and Superior Grill and we tried a New Orleans classic Mother's. The real reason we go to New Orleans is to eat! We walked all over the French Quarter and of course shopped. We had a great time!
On Friday night we stopped by Pat O's piano bar and as most of you know Wesley hates being in the spotlight...they sat us front and center with little spotlights on our table! It was too funny! The piano players were great!

Aunt Lani came to help Doc and Cheri with the babies. They had a good time. The babies have started eating table food so Cheri cooked all kinds of new things for them to eat. Mahlon especially loved Docs peas(from his garden) They ate ground turkey, sweet potato fries, watermelon, and squash. They also went "swimming" in large laundry tubs. My mom has video and pictures that I'll post later. They got to see the cows too! They were busy busy!

Cheri bought the babies this sprinkler pool last week and they love it! I decided it is much easier to "swim" in our back yard than drag all of our stuff to the pool in our neighborhood. They love to splash!

Wesley has started a little garden with Doc's guidance. We have tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, banana peppers...do you think Wesley likes peppers??? We plan on making a bunch of salsa this summer. This is Mahlon "helping" daddy mulch the garden. Looks like he is having fun!

Many of you have asked how I keep up with 2 mobile babies...the secret...a corral(that is what Doc calls it) They don't mind being in there. Of course they have every toy you can imagine to keep them entertained! Thanks to the Bobbitt family for the wonderful design and for letting us borrow it!

We had a gross first yesterday...Sara Beth was having a "fussy" day and was very clinging. Well after her screaming through most of her dinner we found out why....

She threw up all over Wesley...a real throw up...we have had 10 months of spit up, but this was a first!! You are probably grossed out, but we are still laughing! She has been so pleasant since then! She is cutting 4 teeth at once so that may be part of the problem!
