Christmas in Soso

We had a short 2 days in Soso before Christmas. But we managed to squeeze in a lot! This year instead of Christmas cookies we made rice krispy pops. Sara Beth LOVED dipping the pops in icing and then rolling them in lots of sprinkles!

And Mahlon loved to eat them...he had 2!!

They learned how to crack pecans with an antique nut cracker.

And daddy and uncle Brian put on a mini firework show!

Madison Heights First Christmas Program

This year was the first ever Madison Heights Christmas program..."For the Glory of the King" I helped direct 40 kids singing and we even did a few hand motions! Mahlon and Sara Beth loved singing their songs and did an awesome job! We are so proud of them...they don't have the best history when it comes to performing on stage!
Wesley snapped a few pics of them in their shepherd costumes singing "Away in a Manger", "Go Tell it on the Mountain" , and "For the Glory of the King". So sweet!

Jefcoat Family Christmas

Every year the Jefcoat family has a Christmas party...or really a reunion. Though it is only "close family" we still only see some of them once a year. I think if everyone made it we would have around 40 Jefcoats/ spouses in one place! And next year I am really going to try to get a group picture of everyone, but for now here are a few pics of Mahlon and Sara Beth opening their gifts...they got spoiled and had so much fun with their cousins!

I had a fun birthday this year! Wesley Mahlon and Sara Beth bought me roses and cake and Aunt Maggie came into town to keep the twins so Wesley and I could celebrate and go to two different Christmas parties! Busy night but lots of fun!

We had so much fun this year decorating the tree...thankfully I bought a huge container of shatterproof ornaments at the end of the season last year! I had such good helpers!

Lani's baby shower

Lani's first baby shower was thanksgiving weekend. We had so much fun getting everything together for baby Braden.
Some decorations and a "well wishes" tree for the guests to leave sweet notes for Braden, Lani and Brian.

Thanksgiving weekend we woke to CHIP the Elf at Doc and Cheri's house! What a fun surprise! Not really sure they understand that CHIP is the one in charge of telling Santa that they are naughty or nice but it sure is fun to see what he gets into at night while we sleep!

We had great Thanksgiving weekend in Soso...4 days! That included lots of fishing, cow feeding, pecan picking, eating, the movie "Arthur Christmas" and a baby shower for baby Braden!This sweet baby was born on Thanksgiving day! She couldn't stand up yet and was so soft and fluffy!

This was a good pecan year...these trees were planted at the old home place(where my dad grew up) and I can remember as a child going out and picking pecans, cracking them, eating them but best of all mom making pecan pie!! Now my sweet babies can join in...they aren't pecan eaters yet, but they enjoyed finding them...kinda like an Easter Egg hunt!

Family Date Night

Disney on Ice was in Jackson and we decided to Surprise the kids with tickets! They had no clue where we were going...only that Mickey and Minnie would be there with some friends! We had a dinner date at Sal and Mookies and had pizza and ice cream and then headed to the show! They loved it!! I don't think they moved until intermission and then they wanted to know when the movie came back on!!

Their favorites were Peter Pan, Tickerbell and Captain Hook! They pretend to be pirates with daddy and he is Captain Hook. so it was a treat to see the real Captain Hook! Their little faces lit up!!

Lilo and Stitch, The Lion King, and Mickey and Minnie with lots of friends were there too! They LOVED the night and can't wait for them to come back! I can't wait to take them to Disney World!!

Groundbreaking

November 6, 2011 was the official groundbreaking ceremony for our church! We are so thankful to be a part of such a wonderful church plant! We are charter members and have loved seeing how much our church has grown and we are so blessed to be surrounded by such a loving church family. We have seen many changes in the past 5 years...meeting in a cafeteria, gym, movie theater, auditorium and we finally will have a place to call home!! What a JOY to be a part of something so special!

Not sure Mahlon and Sara Beth really knew what was going on but they sure did love playing in the dirt! And they refused to be in the group picture!! OH WELL! At least I snapped a few them together!

Keep our church family in your prayers. This is just the beginning of the wonderful things the LORD has is store for Madison Heights Church PCA.

MC football

Wesley took Sara Beth and Mahlon to a Mississippi College Football game today! They had the best time and daddy got a lot of cute pictures too! They sat right up front in the middle of the action(aka the cheerleaders!) Sara Beth Cheered her little heart out!

While Mahlon watched!

In fact she was such a good cheerleader she got to cheer just like the big girls!
But if you ask her about it she'll tell you she was just a little shy!

Then daddy took them to the big coliseum where he played basketball. Mahlon walked in and his eyes got really big and he said "Dad, this is AMAZING!" So now Wesley can't wait to take him to a basketball game! They ran and played all over the court and then stopped to pose for a pic for daddy!

This one is Christmas card worthy...I think it is soooo sweet and they look so much alike! Love it!!

Happy Halloween!

We had such a fun Halloween this year!! All week Mahlon and Sara Beth kept asking what we were going to be for Halloween??? Wesley hasn't dressed sometime when we were dating 8-9 years ago so I never imagined he would do anything. I however planned on being a black cat or wear a dress and a witches hat...something easy. The day before Halloween I decided I would make use of an old bridesmaids dress and be a princess too (just like princess Sara Beth)We have multiple tiara's, throw in some sparkly jewelry and voila a princess costume!!! Now the morning of Sara Beth asked her daddy what he was going to be...of course he said I'm not sure, thinking he could get out of it!! A few minutes later she says "Daddy, will you be my Prince?" He could never so "no" to her blue eyes looking up at him! So the babies and I went to Party City to see what was left...and we came home with a child's King costume! HAHA!! And Wesley loved it!

Madison Heights Fall Festival

Sunday October 30 was Madison Heights fall festival. It is such a fun time of fellowship with sweet friends! This year we had the first ever Chili/Gumbo cook-off which was delicious! There were so many activities...bounce houses, pumpkin painting, face painting, a hayride and list goes on! One of my favorites was the photo cut-out...because Wesley and I made it!! I think Mahlon and Sara Beth were more proud than we were! They kept saying "Mom, I like your punkin" so sweet!!

Halloween Weekend

We had a busy Saturday!
We got up Saturday morning in full bulldog attire and headed to the Township in Ridgeland for their festival and enjoyed yummy food from "Sunshine Pizza"(aka Soulshine Pizza) a little shopping, horseback riding, and bounce houses! So much fun!!

Then it was time for our Neighborhood Halloween party! Truck or treating and Tailgating and a hayride!

This little Cheerleader couldn't part with her uniform to be a princess for the night! I think she may have brought the Bulldogs luck this week! Oh and this is her Mali dog also in costume...she is wearing the lady bug costume that Sara Beth wore her very first Halloween!

Today Mahlon and Sara Beth got to wear their costumes to school! Saturday we have a Halloween Party in our neighborhood, Sunday is the fall festival at church and Monday is Halloween and Trick-or-Treating! So there are about to be a lot of pictures on this blog with these precious costumes! Doc and Cheri brought these special surprises back from their trip to New York! And Aunt Lani found the shield and princess wand to match!

Adorable little princess...She keeps changing her mind who she is...Rapunzal, Jasmine, Cinderella, Aurora...She can play the part perfectly in her royal ball gown!

Sara Beth may never wear anything else again and we are going to have to watch Mahlon to make sure he doesn't take anyone out with his shield and sword!!

Bday Weekend!

Lani and Brian came to Madison to celebrate their birthdays this year! On Saturday we went to Starkville for the football game...child free!!! Thanks to Cheri! We had so much fun and got home just in time for Birthday Cake before the twins bedtime! They were sooooo excited to help blowout candles and Sara Beth was so proud the cake was pink!

It was a busy weekend that went by too quickly but we had fun and were so glad to finally get to see Aunt Lani's baby bump....

Pumpkin Decorating!

It didn't take too long to start decorating once we got home with our pumpkins. This year instead of carving pumpkins we painted them. Mahlon's is mostly red with a few splashes of Sissy's pink paint and Sara Beth's is pink with a little red mixed in! We added 4 green handprints at the top to look like leaves! These kiddos love to paint! I love watching them...they are so cute concentrating!

We had so much fun at the pumpkin patch this year! This was our second year to go with our friends from Madison Heights! And Cheri got to go this year so I had a little extra help! We went on a long hayride and saw lots of cows, goats, donkeys, the catfish pond, sunflowers and of course lots of PUMPKINS!

Day in the Country

Day in the Country is the 1st Saturday in October every year and I think we have been the last 3 years! It is so much and this year was the most fun! Mahlon and Sara Beth really enjoyed all of the activities! And half of our neighborhood was there for us to play with!

We headed to Soso for the weekend to visit Doc and Cheri and let daddy help Doc on the farm(lots of tractor riding.) The weather was great so most of our weekend was spent outside talking to cows, feeding the cows, and fishing!
Sara Beth thought she wanted to milk a cow until she saw it in real life...not quite like the cow at the children's museum...this one smelled and was pretty muddy!!!
She did LOVE playing in the hay with daddy! Something I did almost every Sunday afternoon growing up!

And the trip to Soso is never complete until we've riden the tractor and fed the cows!

Just catching up on a few random pics from my cell phone...not really in any order, but too cute to not post!
Wesley was in a 7 hour adventure race Labor Day weekend in Memphis...yes 7 HOURS!! Running, biking, navigating with a map and compass and a few surprise twists for 7 HOURS!!!

We managed to track daddy down a couple of times and this was at the end of the race...Mahlon and Sara Beth were "trail running" just like daddy! They were having a blast!

Mahlon and Sara Beth LOVE painting! This was one of my painting days that turned into one of their painting days! They wanted to paint on wood just like mommy! Mahlon painted lots of orange for Aunt Maggie since that is her favorite color and S.B. painted lots of pink for Doc and Cheri since that is S.B.'s favorite color!

Cheri and Doc brought Sara Beth a tea set from their vacation in New York. And now we have weekly tea themed tea parties. Sometimes they have dolls, or trucks or animals...this one was a Royal Tea Party with Briar Rose(Sleeping Beauty) and prince Phillip(her prince.) I just love their little imaginations!

This little princess loves bathtime...but she really loves wearing mommy's bath robe and hair towel afterwards!

First Day of School!

September 6th was a big day at our house!Sara Beth and Mahlon started a new school this year! They are going to Broadmoor Baptist Church and they LOVE it!! In fact they are sad on the days they don't go to school! It usually takes a few days to get out of them what they actually do at school but they are learning so much! They sing me the songs they learn and they come home with some of the cutest art projects! Something new for us is that they are in separate classes for the first time!! I think is was more difficult for me that first week than it was for them!

They were so excited to have new lunchboxes and backpacks for their new school!

We went up to Memphis for the MS State/Memphis game...the first game of the season! Mahlon and Sara Beth had soooo much fun! They were all dressed up in MSU gear!! Mahlon wasn't sure why he couldn't be on the field with all of the other boys in their jerseys. And if you ask Sara Beth about the game she'll tell you "I cheered and cheered the whole time, but I didn't get to go on the field with all of the other cheerleaders!" Poor thing...she was broken hearted! I promised her that we could go to a highschool game and maybe she could cheer with those cheerleaders! It was quite warm and you can tell from the rosie cheeks on the kiddos!

This year for daddy's birthday we something extra special...

Mahlon and Sara Beth decorated the cake by themselves!
They had so much fun! They were precious...they ate about 50% of the icing while decorating! They were so proud and couldn't wait to surprise their daddy!

Blowing out the candles...Mahlon had his lightening McQueen candle from his cake and Sara Beth had her Cinderella candle and daddy just had plain old candles!

Disney Character Brunch

The restaurant "Mint" did a fundraiser for the American Cancer society and had a Disney Character brunch! You would have thought we were in Disney World. Sara Beth dressed up for a second time as Cinderella and Mahlon wore a cape and crown to be a prince. The kiddos took about a half hour to warm up to the princesses and characters, but once they did it was all hugs and smiles with their favorites!

These are just a few random pics, but too cute not put on the blog.
This is what happens when you leave your child for too long while "coloring" with markers...she colored herself! Thank goodness for washable markers!

Mahlon and Sara Beth are loving riding their bikes...this night they made the entire loop around the neighborhood...3/4 mile!

And daddy, Mahlon and Sara Beth have a new Monday night tradition...PIZZA NIGHT! I teach a pilates class and I'm usually gone for about 1 hour 45 min so making pizza keeps everyone entertained! They help "mash" the dough, spread the sauce (which they end up eating most of), sprinkle the cheese...or what is left of it after they snack on it! And then they add topping...pepperoni or ham and pineapple. They have so much fun and look forward to it every Monday! And the little princess of course has her dress on!

MHC tea party

This summer our church had lots of events to entertain little ones while not in school. One of our favorites was the dress up tea party for moms and daughters. And Cinderella was the surprise guest!! Oh what fun! Sara Beth was a little scared at first, but once she realized she looked like Cinderella's "mini-me" she was smitten!! I think she sat in her lap most of the time when she wasn't slurping her pink lemonade or decorating her cupcake!! The girls had such a fun time and loved being all grown using REAL china!! Now she likes to have tea parties of her own every week!

Daddy Day brought Mahlon the choo-choo toy box on wheels that his dad(Great Granddaddy Day/Mahlon Wesley Day) built for him when he was a little boy, then Wesley used it when he was a child and now it is little Mahlon's turn!! How special to have something passed down through that many generations!

My babies aren't babies anymore!! I started looking back through pictures and oh how they have changed...chubby cheeks, rolly polly legs, Mahlon's bald head/Sara Beth's comb over! It's hard to believe that they weren't even 6 lbs when they were born and now Mahlon is 40 and Sara Beth is 36.5. They aren't preemies anymore!!

I had so much fun looking back and can't believe how quickly they are growing up. We are truly blessed to have such precious, healthy children to love each and every day. And I am so thankful to have been blessed with twins...though they can be double trouble...I can't imagine life without them and I'm not quite sure what we did before them! 3rd Birthday!

We had such a fun birthday party and day!
The babies (or children I guess I have to call them that now!) woke up to a room full of streamers and balloons and a water slide in the backyard! We had a wonderful day with friends and family celebrating the "3"!
I was so busy playing I didn't get a whole lot of pictures!
Here are a few of the decorations...

Cheri made the cakes...Mahlon wanted a blue cake and Sara Beth wanted a pink cake so we tied them together with a toy box and all of their favorite characters!!

The water slide was a blast...Wesley, Brian, Sara Beth and I played on it for another hour after the party ended!

Birthday Part 2

Birthday Part 2 included both sets of grandparents and Aunt Lani and Uncle Brian...but it didn't begin until 9pm...once we returned from the E.R. with Mahlon!!
After a long and fun birthday party we realized Mahlon wasn't feeling well. He went down for a nap without any lunch, but after cake and ice cream and lots of snacks I thought that was normal. During his nap I checked on him and realized he was breathing funny! So by 4pm we were at the doctors office and 30 minutes later we were in the E.R. having xrays, steroids and 6 breathing treatments a little scary. Wild night at Children's hospital but they were great. Then we came home to a house full of people and lots more presents to open and a crazy child on lots of steroids.
Mahlon and Sara Beth both got REAL bikes from Doc and Cheri!! Lightening McQueen for Mahlon and a Princess bike for the Princess herself.

And Matching helmets and bells for their bikes from Aunt Lani

And a MSU cheerleader outfit with "real" pom poms and a MSU football jersey and football from mommy and daddy.

And Daddy Day built Sara Beth and Mahlon a dress up clothes rack...or as M. and S.B. call it a dress up castle stage. It holds all of the costumes, shoes etc. and provides them a place for hide and seek, singing, and it serves as a head board for Sara Beth's bed.

Our day started off great, had a little chaos in in the middle and ended with a house full of family and surprises and memories!

News from Mobile

We went down to Mobile to see Lani and Brian and...

wait for it...

Aunt Lani's Baby BUMP!!! Yes she is 13 weeks!! YAY!!!

It was a rainy weekend so we stayed in a lot!! We did go to the movies to see Winnie the Pooh!
We went out Saturday with their friends so they could share their news!! Everyone was so excited! We had BBQ at The Shed and the kids ran wild!! Mahlon really loved the motorcycle!

And Sara Beth really loved all of the attention she got from Uncle Brian!

And this is Aunt Lani and Uncle Brian opening their very first BABY PRESENT!!! And they had some good little helpers to show them what everything was!!

The "theme" of our gift was a good nights sleep! They got lullaby cd's, a sheet saver, some bedtime books, a sweet/soft baby sleeper...all things that a must at bedtime!!!

A good bedtime routine=happy baby=happy mommy and daddy!

We all can't wait til February 4th!!! HAPPY BABY Aunt Lani and Uncle Brian!!!

Oh and Mahlon says she is having a boy and Sara Beth thinks she is having a girl! We'll see who is right in a few weeks!!

Mahlon LOVES to "mow the yard." He gets his truck and follows daddy whereever he goes. Sometimes it takes daddy just a little bit longer to mow because he has to take a lot of extra steps!
Literally he takes the exact same steps as Wesley!

And Sara Beth is a big helper too...she is the "water girl"! So Sweet!!

The second weekend in July is always the Thompson family reunion in Fayette, AL. We left Atlanta and headed to Fayette for a cookout on Saturday night and then a potluck lunch on Sunday!

Sissy was having a hard time pulling Brother around...he only weighs 40 lbs!!!

If there is a tractor somewhere Mahlon is going to find it!!

Don't have many pictures to show for it, but I have a few from the cookout and video of the twins singing on stage at the Fayette Civic Center...they loved entertaining everyone!!

Actually Mahlon did most of the entertaining...Sara Beth is going through a bit of a shy stage!

Nana in Atlanta!

Last weekend we had a busy weekend full of family and friends!! We headed to Atlanta to see Nana! On our way we stopped and had dinner with the Coulson family and got to meet baby Caroline...though I don't have any pictures...5 kids at one table was a bit busy!! And then we continued our journey!
We got up early and headed to Nana's to spend the day! We played and got to see Aunt Daphne, cousin Greer and baby Day! Again no pictures!! But we had fun catching up! Then is was time for lunch and Nana had an extra sweet Watermelon to go with the twins favorite Chick-fil-a!

We headed back to Nana's the next morning for breakfast before heading onto our next stop Fayette, AL. Love how tiny Nana is standing next to Wesley!!

July 4th!

July 4th was a busy day at our house!! Doc and Cheri came up and spent part of the morning and afternoon with us! Doc and daddy worked on the finishing touches to our new playset while Cheri and I cooked a big lunch!

And then later in the evening we had some neighbors over for more food and fun on the playset and topped the night off with some fireworks and sparklers!! Happy 4th!! Great day with family and friends!! Too much excitement to remember to take many pictures!!

We decided to have Family Date Night and go see Cars 2 and then go for pizza!! Mahlon was sooo excited to see "Li-tin-a-queen"(aka Lightening Mcqueen) They were very excited about popcorn and candy, though S.B. decided she didn't like popcorn...the M&M's were a hit!! This movie seemed a bit long...especially by the 3rd potty run with 2 almost 3 year olds!!! We had fun though and then we topped the night off with pizza!! I look forward to many more family date nights!! SO FUN!!

We had a slow start, but after 2 weeks of lessons I have 2 little fish!! Week one involved lots of tears and a trip to the emergency room because S.B. decided to inhale half of the pool, but we were back kicking and screaming the next day!! And at the end of the lessons they loved Mrs. Deborah and now when we go to the pool they want me to pretend to be Mrs. Deborah and tell them to jump in, and kick, and dive for rings...they are a mess!! We didn't get to watch any of the lessons so this is the last day when they go to show off all they had learned!

Wesley had a Happy Father's Day! We went to church and then to his pick for brunch at Bon Ami! He got a new pair of trail running shoes, lots of hugs and kisses and a long nap in the afternoon!!

We finally finished!!! I'm just a little late posting pics!! These are the twins new matching twin beds! YAY! The first one took about 3 1/2 weeks and the second took us about 2 weeks! Don't think we will EVER take on a project this big again! But we are so proud and Mahlon and Sara Beth LOVE them! Mahlon will tell you "they are perfect!"

I still have some art to do to add to the walls and Cheri is planning on making some more pillows and I'm on the hunt for new curtains!! So this project is not quite complete, but at least they have some where to sleep!!

Memorial Day

We had some friends over for a cookout on Memorial Day. The kiddos played in the sprinkler and baby pool in our back yard. Mahlon and Sara Beth had so much fun with a "baby" to play with! Mahlon was so sweet and shared all of his toys and Sara Beth was proud to have a "mini me" Snow White!

And it is amazing to see what 2 little girls can make their daddys do when they say PLEEEEASE!!

Just a normal day in the neighborhood!! We have the best neighborhood to raise your kids in and some of the sweetest neighbors! The other night we all searched through our pantrys and came up with a great impromtu supper club! The kids all wore their swim suits and played in the sprinkler and on the water trampoline! So much fun! We're so thankful for all of our sweet friends and the fun memories we make on any given day!!

Don't know the weight limit for the trampoline, but I'm pretty sure 2 adults and 5 kids may be a little much!! But what a great way to babysit!!

For a few months now we have been discussing the urgent need for big boy/big girl beds! SO why not build them ourselves!! Yes we are crazy! We found an awesome website www.ana-white.com that has detailed plans for building all kinds of things! And we picked out the perfect day beds! I'm sharing photos of the progress we've made so far on bed number one!! But you'll have to wait til we finish bed number 2 to see it all together with bedding, sheets, pillows and storage baskets!!

This is what we started with day 1!!

After a few cuts, lots and lots of sanding and few days later we had part of the first storage box complete! This was a huge accomplishment!!
We had the best little helpers!! They loved every minute of "making their beds"!

By the end of that day we had 3 boxes!!

And after a few more days and lots of sanding and staining and filling holes and sanding and staining more this is what we had!

Then we had to add the trim (again, more sanding and staining and filling more nail holes!!!!)
And 2 1/2 weeks later this is almost the final product!!

I have added one more coat of stain to finish bed #1 and this weekend we start on #2!! I'm not sure who is more proud Wesley and me or the babies!!
We have learned a lot through this process and hopefully the next one will go much more smoothly!! I'll post pics once we've moved in the new furniture!! P.S. I now know why pottery barn charges $899 for this same bed!!! But it is sooooo worth for us to work on it together and see those sweet babies beaming faces each time they walk into the garage!!

Our FIRST Graduation!!

Mahlon and Sara Beth graduated from Mother's Morning Out at Chapel of the Cross on May 18, 2011!! They started "school" when they were 13 months old and though graduation was a few weeks ago they'll finish with school the week of their 3rd birthday!! Oh how time flys!!

Now on to the ceremony...Sara Beth started crying uncontrollably the moment she saw us!

Wesley ended up having to sit with her through the first half of graduation! As part of the ceremony several of the children were selected to sing! Mahlon and Sara Beth were supposed to sing their ABC's, but since sissy couldn't stop crying, mommy and daddy and the rest of their class got to get on stage and perform too!! Only one little boy sang an abbreviated version, but at least he sang!!

Then they got to get their diplomas followed by a party with their teachers and classmates!

We will miss Ms. Rochelle and Ms. Renada!

Mother's day was quite relaxing!! The weather was perfect! We spent the morning at the roof top pool and lazy river, then headed to the Shrimp Basket for lunch and while the kiddos napped Anna and I enjoyed the peace and quiet in the lazy river alone soaking up the sun! After a little more pool time the daddies grilled a fabulous dinner for the mommies!

Don't have many pictures from Day 3! It was mom's day off! Anna and I were treated to massages and pedicures and a shopping day in Foley! Perfect Mother's Day gift! So the daddies were in charge! The pool was still pretty cold and in lots of shade in the morning so it was lots of fun to warm up in the "hot pool"(hot tub).

We all woke up bright and early our first morning and headed straight to the beach! The water was bit chilly still but that didn't keep us from sticking our toes in!
Mahlon and Sara Beth loved the beach this year!

Mahlon's favorite part was digging in the sand and tearing down any "sand castles" mommy and daddy tried to build!

We left on Thursday and headed to beach with our friends the Brabhams! We had so much fun!! It was a bit chilly the first couple of days so we spent more time just splashing in the shallow end, swimming indoors and playing on the playground!
We only had a couple of hours to play outside our first day so my pictures are limited!

We headed to the indoor pool to warm up a bit before dinner! They loved it!

This was how we ended each day! We had an awesome condo with a view of the bay and the most beautiful sunsets!!

Mahlon and Sara Beth weren't sure what to think about getting "prizes" from the Easter bunny. They were so excited! They got all kinds of goodies...books, movies, bubbles, flip flops! So fun!

After church we had a great lunch with some of our friends from church.

And here is Easter photo #4! A family pic! And everyone is looking at the camera!! What you can't see is that Sara Beth's Easter dress is decorated with dry erase marker from Sunday School, Mahlon and Wesley are both covered in corn casserole(a mishap from lunch) Mahlon also has red cinnamon jelly bean down the front of his shirt and both of their booty's are covered in tan stain from the newly stained deck at our friend's house!! What a mess but what a cute pic! Glad we got this one, because we won't be wearing these outfits again!!

Aunt Lani gave Mahlon and Sara Beth Lightening McQueen and Princess fishing poles for Easter. So we spent the Saturday before Easter fishing! And Mahlon and Sara Beth (with the help of Aunt Lani and Uncle Brian) caught their first fish!! They were soooo excited!

Doc's farm

We spent about an hour at one of Doc's farms. Sara Beth's favorite part of course was visiting with the cows and letting them eat out of her hand.

We took a short walk through Doc's garden to check out his potatoes, green beans, okra and lots of other veggies that we will be able to enjoy in a few weeks!

I think the coy were definitely a hit! They named all of them Dorothy (Elmo's fish's name) So they talked to them and tried to pet them and daddy caught one!!!

By the way these 4 coy live in the cows watering trough. And have been there for a year!

So we went to a professional to get our "bunny" pics. Mahlon was a little scared of live animals. Sara Beth has no fear! She loves any animal and was happy to be holding the bunny and the duck! Couldn't get 2 smiles at the same time!! The pictures are still pretty sweet though!

Egg Hunt # 3!

Egg Hunt #3 was at our church office! We started with the Easter story (Last supper, Crucifixion and Resurrection) taught by our favorite Sunday School teacher(and Children's minister) Mrs. Shirley. Then the kids took off to find hundreds of eggs all over the church office grounds, in bushes and even in trees!
And since we are so tall we can easily see things in trees!!

By this Egg hunt we were pros! We got lots and lots of eggs which meant lots and lots of candy!! Then we had a snacks and crafts to keep us busy after all of the eggs were found!!

We had so much fun at the Easter Hunt at our school we decided to have one at our house! 8 kids under 6 and plus a baby in a very slushy back yard!!! Thankfully everyone wore their rain boots and if they we had plenty to share! They had so much fun finding eggs all over the yard, in the bushes and inside and under toys!

We managed to get them to all sit still for 30 seconds to get a group picture! (it took lots of candy but they did it!)

After the egg hunt they all played and blew bubbles and then got ring pops! I think Tristen and Brycen enjoyed those the most!!

We loved hunting eggs this year!! Our First Easter Egg Hunt was at school the Wednesday before Easter. Basically they laid a bunch of eggs all over the grass and in the courtyard and turned a bunch of 2 and 3 year olds loose! Since this was the first "hunt of the season" they weren't quite sure what to do! Especially Mahlon, he pointed out lots of eggs and told me what color they were, but then skipped over it to find another one. Sara Beth on the other hand only hunted the pink or purple eggs! In other words we didn't have much candy to eat at the end of the hunt...better luck next time!

Another fun thing we did in Memphis was go to Herb Parsons Lake to see Wesley race in a 8.5 mile trail run. He did AWESOME!! He finished 16 out of 122 runners!!!

We hung around after the race for a while and played in stumps threw rocks in the lake and watched the geese!

The weekend before Easter we headed to Memphis to see Gran, Daddy Day, Aunt Maggie and Great-Uncle Tete. The whole week before all the twins could talk about was who they were going to see and how they couldn't wait to go to the zoo and see the Elephants! SO Saturday we woke up to a chilly/windy morning, but it wasn't enough to keep us away from the zoo...we just bundled up and headed out the door! I think the cooler weather kept a lot of people away, and it also kept a lot of animals cuddled up sleeping!! We had a great time! We didn't take a stroller so we were all worn out walking that ginormous zoo! If you haven't been you need to go! It is worth the trip for sure!! We went to the sea lion show which was cute...a much smaller version of a sea world show. The animals did tricks and splashed the front row so it was cute!

Of the favorites were the giraffes, elephants and monkeys! And somewhere between the giraffes and the monkeys we lost Sara Beth's pink bow! I went back looking for it, but we decided the giraffe ate it...she was sitting on her daddy's shoulders almost eye level with one of the giraffes and that is the last picture with a bow!! Oh well!!

The barnyard was so much fun...they saw sheep, goats, chickens, cows, pigs and even a donkey! When they saw the donkey they yelled "look mommy it's just like Mary and Joseph's donkey!" So sweet! This goat got close enough to pet!!

Aunt Maggie and Daddy Day read a few new bedtime stories(from Gran and Daddy Day) before they crashed after their long day!

We weren't too sure of the sleeping situation since we have officially outgrown pack-n-plays...they ended up sleeping together in a "big bed"! We couldn't believe it. Now it wasn't the best sleep, "he stole my covers" or "she kicked me"woke us all up a few times!...you know how it goes, but there is a first time for everything! Look at those sweet sleeping faces!!

Doc and Cheri sent us a few early Easter happys coloring books, new monogrammed beach towels and of course the most favorite were the new Cinderella and Prince Charming dolls!! For several days they wanted to sleep with them, dance with them and Sara Beth even took off Prince Charming's gloves and tried to make them fit on her daddy's hands!! She wanted him to be her prince!! So precious! She can get him to dance much easier than I have ever been able too!! Wish I had a picture of that!

Double Trouble

So for almost 3 years now when people find out I have twins they always say "how do you do it?...or you have your hands full...or I can't imagine how hard it is"...Guess what your right!! And the following pictures are just a little taste of the "double trouble" twins can get into!!!
Lately they have been trying to cut out their nap...I am sooooo not ready for this and they aren't either! They still need a short nap and so I still put them in their room for "quiet time." With two almost 3 year olds there is not much "quiet time!!"
The other day I needed to get a few art projects done so I was outside sanding and cloroxing and the baby monitor died...Wesley was inside working so I wasn't worried about them. And 10 minutes later he told me I needed to come inside. I turned the corner to see two half dressed soaking wet children!!!!
Apparently they thought it was a good idea to stuff a roll of toilet paper in the sink and turn the water on high!! Once the sink was full the toilet paper started coming off in clumps and those clumps then covered the walls, mirror, floor, cabinets etc...(kinda reminded me of those spit balls from high school!!) The entire bathroom was flooded and the floor had standing water and about a foot and a half of the carpet in their room was wet as well!! What a mess!!! 2 little minds can get into a lot of trouble!! DOUBLE TROUBLE!! These are a couple of pictures I took...
Picture one...lots of standing water and water dripping off of the counter into the drawers and cabinets...LOVELY!!

Now you can see little bits of and clumps of toilet paper EVERYWHERE!

It took about 45 minutes to clean up and we are still finding little bits of toilet paper dried up in odd places in the bathroom!!

And 2 days later during "nap/quiet time" my two little curious georges decided it would be fun to coat the lower half of their bodies in Boudreaux's Butt paste! Mahlon was Sara Beth started screaming that she needed to go potty and due to the previous incident the bathroom was locked! So I took of running to get her to the potty and walked in to see the mess!!! They were covered...especially Mahlon...and the brown rocker that he was sitting in! What a mess and what a STRONG smell!! Their nice church clothes that they were wearing now have oil stains on them!! I steamed the rocker, but it didn't help much...at least it is dark!!
These incidents happened 2 days apart and I thought for sure if things kept going in this direction I would either be bald or end up at Whitfield!!
I now have a video monitor a friend is letting me use so now I can spy on them! Thankfully they haven't gotten into anything else...knock on wood!!

Max and Ruby

Back to the pretending...I was cleaning the kitchen after dinner the other night and Mahlon and Sara Beth were in the dining room playing so well together and giggling so I thought I should peak in and this is what I found!

They moved all of the chairs in a straight line and were pretending to be Max and Ruby(a brother/sister bunny cartoon) and they said they were trying to earn "bunny scout" badges!! They are so smart!! Not sure how climbing chairs earns a badge, but maybe it was like climbing a mountain??

Now about once a week they try to earn a new badge! Guess one day I'm gonna have a little boy/girl scout!

Easter Pictures take1

My plan this year was to go out and take sweet pictures and make an Easter card in our precious Easter outfits! But it is almost impossible to get 2 almost 3 year olds to sit still, look in the same direction and SMILE at the same time!! So no Easter card this year, but here are a few sweet pics!!

I asked Mahlon to kiss sissy and he grab those chubby cheeks of hers and layed on her!! Look out ladies!!

And I have always loved pictures of them holding hands...can you believe how much taller he is?!? Oh and gotta love the knee socks wrapped around his ankles...he hates those things, but they are so sweet!!!

Pretend and Dress-Up

Mahlon and Sara Beth are so good at pretending and playing dress-up. If she is a princess she will tell us who she is (Cindrella, Jasmine, Snow White...) and then he will let us know what prince he is or if he is a horse, or witch or wizard. They are very entertaining! And if they are in "in character" they only answer by name (example Princess Jasmine and Alladin) During Christmas they loved to be Mary and Joseph and they would push baby Jesus around in the stroller. Well it has progressed...the other day they were pretending to be Mary and Joseph and they used their "blank-blanks" to wrap around their heads(just like all of the pictures) and they stuffed their "hop-hops" down their shirts to be just like Mary! And at one point Mahlon wrap baby hop-hop Jesus in his blanket and gave him a kiss!! LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!! I so wish I had video of it!! But the pictures are just as precious!!

St. Paddy's Parade

These are a few pictures from the St. Paddy's children's parade. We didn't have a whole lot of green on, but Mahlon had an awesome bow tie and Sara Beth had an Irish Princess tiara...though she didn't wear it long! I think they were a little overwhelmed by all of the people, but they really enjoyed the "marchin' band"(aka the parade) No, there was no marching band, but apparently they saw a parade on TV and thought that all parades had marching bands so they renamed it. This parade featured children dressed up in all kinds of green with decorated strollers, wagons and bikes throwing beads and candy...we just might have to participate next year!

We did get to meet the Chick-fil-a cow(our favorite restaurant) What kills me is that Sara Beth was terrified of the cow, yet she will walk right up to one of Doc's cows and have a full conversation!! Mahlon just needed a little help from daddy to get his picture made!

Inky the clown was there doing all kinds of magic tricks and making balloon animals and he even gave us a magic wand that had a poster inside! We spent most of the afternoon painting our new Inky poster! They love to paint posters or even each other!! Mahlon painted Sara Beth first, then decided he needed a little too!

The Zoo.

We are loving the sunshine and spring weather! We went to the zoo with our friend Logan and had so much fun!! It is kind of hard to get 3 kids to stay still and look in the same direction so I don't have very many picture to document the trip!
The alligator tail was lots of fun to sit on and wiggle around!

They loved watching the flamigos, though these are a little more orange than pink?!
The highlight was the fish and turtles and frogs(and air conditioning!) And of course the loved the monkeys too, but my little monkeys were too busy for a picture there!

We have a new game we love to play in our house! Our kids are very much into hide- and-go-seek. The best part is they giggle the whole time so they have no shot of being sneaky. Also they think if they can't see you, you can't see them...whether their eyes are closed, or if they are under a blanket...so precious! So here is their new favorite hiding spot...the laundry hamper/cabinet in the guest bathroom. I had to get a picture of this because I am not sure how much longer they will both be able to fit in there!! FYI a few other favorites in our house are behind the clothes in Mommy and Daddy's closets, behind the rocker in the guest bedroom and the easiest place to spot them...under mommy and daddy's comforter(the pillows are usually all over the place and an arm or foot sticking out most of the time!) This has become a nighttime favorite...especially if they are avoiding bath or bedtime!

Our First Family Hike!

The last weekend of February was the perfect weekend for a hike! Not too hot, not to cold! We headed to Holmes County State Park for our first hike. We packed a picnic lunch, toys to play with, a backpack for hauling kids and even the elmo potty seat! We don't pack light these days!!
We began our outdoor adventure on the playground...swings, slides, monkey bars...lots of fun!

The babies loved the "big hill" next to the playground...everything around our house is flat so I think they thought this was a mountain! They ran up and down the hill, kicked a soccer ball down the hill for daddy to chase, and even had a "stick sword fight" just like Captain Hook (we are in a big Peter Pan phase!)
The leaves were quite entertaining too...since we have very few trees in our yard we don't have leaves so they had soooo much fun looking at different shapes and sizes and Mahlon especially loved covering mommy in leaves...see his little face below!

Daddy got a big time workout chasing babies and sprinting back up the hill...carrying an extra 70 plus pounds is tough!!

We had a quiet picnic next to the lake, and then threw a few sticks and rocks into the water!

And then the hiking began! This was the very beginning when we had two happy hikers singing and talking...that lasted all of 2 minutes and then...

one went into the backpack...

and daddy carried the other! What a workout!!!
They loved looking into the creek at all of the tadpoles and bugs! I can remember loving the same thing when I was little!

Little man was saying "CHEESE!!!!" so cute!!
We had a great time on our first hike...Wesley is dying to take them to the mountains, but this was a great start...our little Mississippi mountain!

Princess for a day?

We love Disney princess movies at our house! Especially Cinderella and Snow White. Sara Beth wakes up every morning and lets me know what princess she is that day...it usually changes depending on her mood, and then she dresses in the appropriate dress and shoes and she stays in character. For instance if you say Sara Beth you need to eat your breakfast she may ignore you, but if you say Snow White it is time for your princess breakfast she will clean her plate!!! ONLY MY CHILD!!! Oh and Mahlon is usually the prince, but sometimes he is a wizard or witch again depending on his mood and what he chooses to dress up in.
Anyway this is what they look like in princess movie mode...they are zombies watching Cinderella!

We have a mini Snow White and Prince doll and I got some of the sweetest pictures of them "dancing" with the dolls.

I really think they thought they were dancing with Snow White and the Prince...Sara Beth even gave her Prince a few kisses!! Excuse her bare body we were getting ready for bathtime prior to the ball room dancing! They were spinning round and round and Sara Beth actually fell a few times!

10 days after the snow and freezing weather we were out running around in shorts!! One of our most favorite things to do these days is blow bubbles!! Sara Beth averages a bottle a day blowing the bubbles, Mahlon averages a bottle every 10 minutes because he likes to dump them out!!

Chasing bubbles gets out lots of energy too!

Valentine's day

A very belated Valentine's Day post.

They had precious t-shirts with hearts that Cheri made so they were ready for Valentines Day!
The babies had a fun day at school! Making Valentine's for mommy and daddy, and passing out their very own Valentines! Sara Beth's were of course princess Valentines and Mahlon had Woody and Buzz Lightyear!
Their favorite part was eating Cheetos and yummy heart cookies with lots of icing!

Sara Beth has a little crush on a a boy in her class...Gray...she plays with him whenever she is at school and on Valentine's Day she got a sweet hug!

Day 2 of the snow! Though it didn't snow much more after dark it was cold enough to stick around for an extra day of play! We pulled out gardening tools and sand buckets to play in the snow!
Mahlon and Kaden had a big time running and falling and screaming!

My neighbor Anna and I made an attempt at building an igloo...the kids had no interest! But I did get a little model to pose for a picture!

We had a beautiful snow storm pass through this February! So much fun!
They woke up from their nap with just enough snow on the ground to play in!
This was the first "big snow" of the year and daddy was out of town and couldn't play so we sent him a message!
Sara Beth loved eating the snow!!
Mahlon...not so much!!

I tried to build a mini snowman, but just like last year someone thought it was more fun to knock it down!!

It continued to snow all afternoon...snowflakes the size of quarters!! So pretty!

Since the babies missed their Christmas tree and decorations so much Cheri decided to buy them a "Valentine Tree" and help decorate it for the month of February! They had so much fun and they love to un-decorate and redecorate it almost daily!

With all of cold weather that came this winter I introduced Mahlon and Sara Beth to their first cup of hot chocolate! They loved it though they ended up wearing most of it on their p.j.'s! This was also the first time they have had anything other than water in their tervis tumblers...not a good idea!!

Last weekend we had our very first friend spend the night. Lille Brooks and her mommy Maci came to visit. We had so much fun! We watched movies and played with play-dough, tried to have a pallet party in the twins room, but that didn't work out!
There was lots of dressing up in princess clothes for the girls and Mahlon was a king or a wizard or a monkey!

On Saturday morning after pancakes Wesley took all 3 kids to the playground while Maci and I shopped for a few last minute baby items for little Gracie who will be here in a few weeks!
They all had so much fun climbing, crawling and sliding!

And by the end of their short stay I think Mahlon had a little crush!! Love this pic of Mahlon and Lillie Brooks giggling!!

We went to the Agricultural Museum last week to see the train exhibit. Mahlon and Sara Beth LOVE trains! And they had trains of all sizes for us to see!
They loved that they could push a button and watch the trains go through tunnels and stop and start.

We saved a little time for a few other exhibits including the catfish tank and a HUGE pig!!! They were a little scared of the pig...this was their first encounter with pig that size!

Our last stop was a drilling rig...just for daddy the oil man!

Just a little update on silly sayings, big accomplishments and new challenges in the lives of 2 1/2 year old twins!
Sara Beth:
*is officially potty trained!!!(since the beginning of December!)
*loves to dress up as a different princess everyday!
*loves to sing! especially the ABC's and Jesus Loves Me
*loves to eat anything with cheese
*favorite movie...Snow White or anything with a princess
*every night when we turn the lights out S.B. says "tell me question" she won't go to sleep without us asking her 1 or 2 random questions!
*she NEVER stops talking!
*she likes for Mommy or Daddy to say the blessing at dinner

Mahlon:
*I had to tell him they quit making diapers in his size...and a little birdie is going tell him they don't make pullups either!!
*dresses up as whatever S.B. wants him to be!
*loves to sing! especially E-I-E-I-O and He's got the whole world in His hands
*loves to eat PIZZA!
*favorite movie...anything Veggie Tales
*loves to play with his train set
*he wants to sing his blessing "God our Father..."
*got his first ear infection at 2 1/2!!

They both:
*love to play "Doctor"
*sing the alphabet as follows...A B C D H I Y, A B C D H I Y...if you sing it with them they know all of the letters, but if they were singing by themselves they have their own version!
*love to paint!
*love play-dough
*can count to 10...with the exception of skipping the number 2! Maybe when they turn 3 they'll realize 2 is a number not just how old they are!
*when they really want something they'll say "just one more" or "just gimmie one"
*they both sleep in toddler beds...still in the same room! No more cribs!!
*they have each claimed their own cat...Lucy is Mahlon's cat and Annabelle is Sara Beths, and everyday they look for "their cat"
*love to read
*pretend to be Mary and Joseph and push baby Jesus in the stroller
*pretend that Mahlon is a King and Sara Beth is whatever princess she chooses to be!
*love cheese puffs
*love to sing/read 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed

Two 2 1/2 year olds is quite challenging at times, but what a blessing! They are at such a fun age right now. And you never know what is about to come out of their mouths...they keep us laughing all day! We are so thankful to have healthy, smart, beautiful children that are so curious and keep us on our toes at all times!!

We celebrated New Year's Day in Madison opening Christmas gifts and watching bulldawg football with the Days(Daddy Day, Gran and Aunt Maggie)Although we were all still recovering from our "Christmas colds" the babies didn't miss a beat! They LOVE opening "prizes."

Wesley got a Wii for Christmas so he spent a lot of his Christmas vacation playing! Mahlon and Sara Beth LOVE to play Super Mario cart. We let them choose who they want to be(Sara Beth is always the princess) and then they choose the vehicle and Wesley and I race! They love it!! They think they are driving or they sit and cheer go mommy go daddy! Too funny!

New Year New Bed!

We couldn't put it off any longer...we converted the cribs to toddler beds! The first night was pretty rough, they kept running to the door and opening and closing it, turning lights on and off, switching beds...I think it took 1 1/2 hours to get them to stay in their beds! The second night only took about a 1/2 hour! Things are much easier now...occasionally we'll go in to check on them and someone will be asleep in the floor or they will have switched blankets and pillows...they are a mess!! The next challenge is rearranging our house to make room for "real" beds. Mahlon is already too long for his toddler bed...at least he sleeps all curled up in a ball!

I have very few pictures without Sara Beth in some sort of Princess outfit. She wakes up every morning wanting to be a different princess! So here is Snow White giving bye-bye hugs and kisses to Aunt Lani and Un Brian

We ended up having 2 sick babies on Christmas day and for 9 days following that so I don't have very many pictures with happy smiling faces. There was a whole lot of lying around in Soso Christmas weekend...it did actually snow on the day after Christmas...not enough to stick, but it was fun to watch! The poor babies couldn't even go outside to see the cows because they were so pitiful and sick! We just had lots of cuddle time while we read and watched Christmas movies (and Snow White!)

We had a wonderful Christmas day lunch with my family and after a short nap it was time for more presents!! The babies had so much fun opening all kinds of new toys and games!

With 8 people opening gifts the babies and puppy dogs were buried!

Sara Beth's favorite is her new Snow White dress and movie...we watched it more times than I can count!!

Our first Christmas morning in our house was so much fun! The babies knew it was Christmas morning, but hadn't quite grasped the entire concept of running out to see what Santa left them...think this is will be our last year of waking them up on Christmas morning! Next year they'll be the ones up at 5am!!Once they saw all of their surprises they lit up!

Mahlon ran over to his train table and yelled "Is this for me????" He was so excited!!

Sara Beth loved her new baby, diaper bag and stroller from Santa!

Wesley was thrilled to open his new Wii with the help of a little princess!
We had such a fun morning, and then packed up and headed to Soso!

This year was our first Christmas Eve in our own house! And we had a busy day! We woke up and decorated our first gingerbread house! What a MESS! But we sure had fun! I didn't read the directions that you were supposed to wait 3 hours after putting the house together before adding the rest of the icing and decorating...so we had a hard time keeping our house together with 4 little hands and 2 pounds of candy on the roof!! I did manage to snap a few pictures before it collapsed, then we had to rebuild it!!

After our first Christmas Eve service at Madison Heights we headed home to bake cookies for Santa and watch Christmas movies! Sara Beth was a big help rolling out the dough and cutting out the star cookie shapes.

Mahlon's favorite part was decorating with sprinkles and eating icing!! And we couldn't forget about Rudolf and friends...we left a little bowl of water and some carrots next to the cookies!

On the 23rd we headed to Canton to see the city of lights! It was a lot colder than we thought, but we had fun as long as we could stand it! We rode on a carousel, a choo-choo train, ate dinner and looked at lots and lots of lights! Something we look forward to every year!

We had fun decorating a rice krispie house from our friend Anna. I put on a little icing and let them do the rest!Sara Beth tried to squeeze out the icing, but really enjoyed licking the sugar off of the gum drops! Mahlon really concentrates on anything artistic!

On December 19th the babies were in their first Christmas musical at Madison Heights...though they didn't sing, they were supposed to ring the jingle bells in 2 songs. Sara Beth sat on stage in my lap most of the time and Mahlon stood in total shock...needless to say there was very little bell ringing, but we looked cute!

MS Children's Museum

One of our Christmas gifts from Doc and Cheri is a year long pass to the new MS Children's Museum! We have been twice already and LOVE IT! There is so much to do! Just a few of our favorites...milking a cow, catching catfish, dancing in the jukebox room and playing dress up!
